• Right-sized for the use case (e.g. wattage/GPH matched to the tank we’re writing about).
• Reliability & track record from manufacturer specs and aggregated owner feedback.
• Value, not just lowest price.
• Consensus among experienced hobbyists in our real-tank dataset.

Independence
